"So, how do you feel about going to Ghana?"

This is a question with many answers. And frustratingly open. How do you feel about anything?

Eight years ago, a young Mr. Obruni pursued his ridiculous youthful dreams and lived as a student in Accra for an academic year. In the seven years since his return to Canada, he has been making very vague and open-ended plans to return to the continent. As it happened, he found an opportunity to return to the same city he once roamed so freely. Not only that, but an opportunity to be paid to work and to bring his family with him to live very comfortably, relative to the general population.

Can you ever go home again? We're about to find out. In the seven years in between, Mr. O graduated, started a career, married Mrs. O and they became parents to little Miss O. The young man who rode decrepit minibuses slept in the sketchiest of West African hostels now is paid to sleep in air conditioned hotel rooms and drive a 4WD SUV. The sleepy town of Accra has seen rapid growth and investment fueled by a buzzing local economy, including oil reserves. They have built two malls and named a major road after George W. Bush.

For Mrs. O, all of the ridiculous and seemly-harmless stories of Ghana are about to come to life in vivid colour, pungent aromas, steam heat and intense encounters.

As for Little Miss O, she just knows she's moving to Ghana, going on a big, big plane and gets a big bed in her new "princess room". (We are still not sure a princess room looks like, but will have to figure it our soon.)

So how are we feeling? A few things.
